Season over for Paisley Park

Ogbourne Maizey trainer Emma Lavelle has told the Daily Mirror that Paisley Park will not race again this season.

After his disappointing performance in the Stayers’ Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival, it was revealed he had an irregular heart beat  - as quell as the loss of two shoes during the race.  His trainer says he has now been given a clean bill of health.   She says “He did a nice piece of work with the heart monitor last week.  Everything wqas spot on.  He’s as fit as a flea.”

He was to have gone to the Punchestown Festival at the end of April.  However, racing in Ireland has been cancelled until April 19 and the Festival starts nine days after that.  There is uncertainty whether racing will be resumed by that date which puts the Festival in some doubt.

Emma Lavelle says: “We will wind him down and get him ready for his summer holiday.  I would’t want to compromise next season for something that may or may not happen.”
