Greatwood Charity's Newbury events re-scheduled - amateur riders race & their raceday
As Newbury will be racing 'behind closed doors' this coming weekend, the charity race re-scheduled for Saturday, 21 March will NOT now take place. The Greatwood Charity has two new Newbury Racecourse dates for your diaries - Saturday, 21 March and Saturday, 16 May.
The weather at the end of February led to the cancellation of racing at Newbury on the last day of the month - February 29. And with it went Greatwood's 2020 Raceday and the amateur riders charity race in aid of Greatwood.
The charity race has been re-scheduled as the last race on the last day of Newbury's jump season - Saturday, 21 March. The start-time for this race will be 6pm.
"This means", says a Greatwood spokesperson, "that all the intrepid riders who have worked so hard will be able to ride."
The Greatwood Raceday - with a hospitality tent and auction event - will be during the Flat season on Saturday, May 16. This means that the Irish Thoroughbred Marketing silent auction - which was put on hold when the racing was cancelled - will re-open on Friday, May 1 and close at 4.05pm on May 16.
The 2019 Greatwood Charity Raceday at Newbury raised £95,000. Greatwood's base is at Clench Common just south of Marlborough.
