Newbury Racecourse to support racing staff week at Virgin Bet Flat Finale
Racing and stud staff are being invited for a day out at Newbury Racecourse next Saturday (23rd).
The move is in support of Racing Welfare’s Racing Staff Week.
Any racing staff member with a valid stable pass or validity slip/letter from their employer will be able to redeem their pass for one complimentary Grandstand admission ticket to Newbury Racecourse on Saturday 23 October which will include:
· Free Grandstand Ticket to Virginbet Flat Finale
· Access to Oktoberfest party
· After party with DJ Jamie Insole
Saturday 23 October will also feature action on course, including the presentation of the end of season awards, The Newburys in association with Conundrum HR Consulting, where Newbury celebrate the leading trainer, jockey, apprentice and owner throughout the 2021 Flat Season.
Also presented across the weekend will be one of four regional Lifetime in Racing Awards to Rob Storton, with The Rob Storton Lifetime in Racing Winner supported by BetVictor race taking place in his honour on Friday 22 October.
Following racing on the Saturday, local DJ Jamie Insole will take to the decks to play a 2-hour set. Hailing from Lambourn, Insole is assistant trainer to Charlie Hills and is looking forward to playing a set for his fellow racing staff members.
“I’m looking forward to playing at Newbury Racecourse for the final flat meeting of the year and for Racing Welfare’s Racing Staff Week,” he said. “Racing Staff put so much effort into the industry and without them we couldn’t enjoy watching these amazing horses race. Sometimes their work is overlooked but this week helps to highlight the importance of all racing staff across the country.”
Harriet Collins, Marcomms and Sponsorship Director for Newbury Racecourse said: “We are delighted to offer free entry to all racing staff in support of Racing Welfare’s Racing Staff Week.
“Following our inaugural Racing Staff Night in 2019 where we welcomed more than 400 racing staff, we are looking forward to welcoming many of them back to Newbury again. Come rain or shine, all the racing staff across the country put in long hours and behind every horse that visits Newbury or any other racecourse, we know there is a big team who work incredibly hard to make it happen, and we are happy to support such a worthwhile initiative.”
Racing Staff Week celebrates the dedication and specialist skills of those who work in the racing industry – the stable staff, stud staff, racecourse staff, gallop people, stalls handlers, valets and all the others who play a vital role in the production of British horseracing. It also aims to raise the profile of Racing Welfare, the only charity that supports all of racing’s workforce.
