Greatwood bounces back after snow foiled their charity race day

The Greatwood Charity suffered a setback at the beginning of March when their fundraising raceday at Newbury racecourse was cancelled because of the snow - but it has been re-scheduled.  

The Greatwood Charity Race Day will now take place on Saturday, April 21 - including the reception and lunch. The Silent Auction is being kept open until April 21 - details can be found by scrolling down the Greatwood website's Home Page.

 

The card for the day includes the Greatwood Spring Cup - a handicap over a mile - and, on a slightly lighter note, the Bloor Homes Supporting Greatwood Charity race.

 

Greatwood, based at Clench Common just south of Marlborough, is the only organisation that uses former racehorses to educate disadvantaged children and young adults with Special Educational Needs (SEN).

 

And last weekend, during Newbury's final meeting of the Jump season, the Greatwood Charity got a welcome boost when BetVictor's Jack Milner presented Helen Yeadon with a cheque for £4,250.  This was money raised through the Pundits Pick promotion the bookmaker runs in conjunction with Racing UK.
